Children and Teenagers (5+)

Legacy Counseling and Consulting provides therapy to children starting at age 5 and up. When working with children and teenagers, family sessions will be a part of the treatment process to help not only the child/ren but to help the entire family. Teenagers need a place to go to be able to discuss difficulties in life, as well as emotional regulation. Most teens have trouble opening up to parents, this is where Legacy comes in, we can help start the communication between parent and child if desired.

Family Sessions

Family sessions are provided when your child is in counseling and under the age of 14. However, no matter the age of your child, family therapy can be beneficial. Family therapy can be helpful with family dysfunction, poor communication, behavioral problems, grief, and much more. To have a family session, one is not required to be in individual counseling.

Christian Counseling and Pastoral Counseling

Christian Counseling is available on request and can be provided in individual counseling and family counseling. Christian Counseling is a way to bring spirituality into psychotherapy and can help to grow and heal. Christian Counseling is beneficial to anyone who wants spirituality in their sessions.

Pastoral counseling can also be for pastors, church leaders, Christians and/or their families who are in need of guidance regarding stress, fatigue, heavy hearted, grief, family dysfunction, relationship building, couple therapy and more.

What can I expect during my first counseling session with Legacy Counseling Consulting LLC?

During your first session with Legacy Counseling Consulting LLC, your therapist will ask you questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counseling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process. The therapist will go over the policies that the company has and answer any questions you may have regarding them. Please arrive 10 minutes before the appointment, if you have not completed the paperwork, please arrive 30 minutes before your session begins to ensure that all of the paperwork is completed.

How long does a counseling session with Legacy Counseling Consulting LLC last?

A counseling session with Legacy Counseling Consulting LLC typically lasts for 50 minutes, although session length may vary depending on your specific needs and preferences. We also provide 30 minute sessions as well as 45 minute sessions. Intakes can last anywhere from 50 to 60 minutes.

Does Legacy Counseling and Consulting, LLC provide consultation session?

Legacy Counseling and Consulting, LLC does provide 15 minute free consultation session. This is helpful for anyone who is looking for a counselor but does not know who would be a good fit. During this 15 minute session, you may ask the therapist all of your questions or concerns you may have. During this time, both you and the therapist will discuss if this is a good match or not. If you do not believe that the therapist is right for you., the therapist can provide other recommended therapist and provide you with the proper resources for them.

As the client's parents, do we need to attend the intake session or any session involving our child?

Yes and no. If your child is under the age of 14, a parent or guardian must be present for the intake session. Thereafter, parents will be present for certain session which are considered family sessions. During the intake, the therapist, client, and client's family will determine how often these family sessions will occur. If you child is over the age of 14, you may attend the intake session with them if they agree to you being in the session. If the child who is over the age of 14 wants family sessions, the therapist, client and client's family will determine how often these family sessions will occur.
